My Story

Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Amaya, a storyteller, strategist, and creative who found her calling at the intersection of words, visuals, and community. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved helping people show up as their best, most authentic selves, whether it’s through a brand refresh, a scroll-stopping social campaign, or just the right message at the right moment. My path through the world of media and marketing has been anything but linear, but it’s been deeply intentional. Every chapter, every role, every project, has helped shape the way I show up in my work today. So if you're curious how I got here, keep reading.

2025 - WHERE I AM NOW

Now based in Texas, I’ve stepped fully into my role as an independent content specialist and brand manager, partnering with purpose-driven brands to bring their stories to life across channels. From web and email to social media and long-form content, I’ve been able to hone a creative process that blends strategy, storytelling, and execution. Drawing from my background in copywriting, content management,and brand development, I now support a range of clients with messaging that not only aligns with their voice, but also moves their mission forward.

Each project I take on deepens my perspective and expands my ability to support brands in a way that’s collaborative, meaningful and rooted in clear, compelling communication. It’s been an exciting new chapter that has brought together every lesson, challenge, and win from the years before.

But to really understand how I got here, we’ve got to rewind a bit…

MY JOURNEY THROUGH THE INDUSTRY

2017-2020:

​

My journey in content creation and brand management began at Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication where I chartered the university’s first National Association of Black Journalists chapter. As the PR Co-Chair, I worked to rebrand the organization, double membership and increase social media engagement by 100% all within a year. We were also recognized as LSU’s student organization of the year after becoming the first nationally affiliated student chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists on LSU’s campus.

Even before graduating, I journeyed into the marketing and communications field to further build my skills outside of the classroom. My professional career officially began when I served as the PR and Marketing Intern at NRG Park in Houston, TX. While attending school, I held on-campus positions that allowed me to continue putting the marketing, public relations and communications I was learning in the classroom to practice and spent my summers in study abroad programs and internships that further expanded my knowledge of the industry on a global scale.

 

2021 - 2022:

Post-grad, I continued my academic development at Rice University where I obtained a certification in digital marketing. Recently I returned to the program as a teaching assistant for the course after developing my skills in contracted positions as a content creator for an entertainment publication and a creative content studio.

After establishing a foundation at the creative content studio as a freelance content writer, I transitioned into a full-time manager role at the partnering marketing agency, Amplified Digital, where I oversaw 40+ B2B and B2C domestic and international accounts across industries including aviation, education, healthcare and hospitality.

2022-2024:

​

Most recently, I was the Marketing Manager at Aurum Marketing, a full-service marketing agency based in Austin, TX that provided its clients with all the benefits of working with an agency while delivering an in-house marketing experience. 

 

I started my journey at Aurum as a content specialist, mainly focused on creating and deploying email marketing campaigns, creating and editing web content and establishing and maintaining the brand identities of both our external clients and our internal brand. As the Marketing Project Manager I led the development of all multichannel marketing and branding strategies for our clients, managed the recruitment, training, evaluation and supervision of the creative teams and coordinated all communication between the internal teams and clients to ensure proper management of all client projects.
